Another mild series of weather days for us

The current http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ weather map has little in the way of surprises, the wind has backed to the West and the Temp is up above freezing.  XC prediction for today is a wet and windy one
========================================
The Weather Channel  gives us hope for the next few days that its going to remain mild with blustery rain expected at any time
=============================================
 it was a cold day yesterday and it was well into the evening before it warmed up
my early morning walk had a very frosty aspect to it
 the time is a little after 8 in this pic and looking south the sun is hardly making its presence felt yet
 looking West up the valley towards Bakewell only the traffic is stirring noisily below me on the A6
 just a hint of the pollution rising up from the traffic in this shot from Tinkersley
 the pond did have a layer of ice at the jetty end
 no golfers out this morning
 the trees in the forest on the left over the field are the ones which maybe cut down mentioned in my blog yesterday.  It struck me that it might only be the fir trees which will be felled - - time will tell
 by the river i scared up a heron which flew up onto the field opposite as i passed its early morning fishing exercise
==================================
Flushed with the success of our Sunday trip to Aldi we went to the slightly closer shop in Chesterfield and as expected it has the same range of products but has the feel of it being a little larger.  I wonder if Aldi were trying to wind up the huge Tesco store when they built it which is within stone throwing distance of it.  Killing 2 birds with one stone after a few purchases form Aldi we raided Tesco to spend some of our Clubcard points before making our getaway back home
================================
Today i want to have a go at removing the pond plants and consigning the recently frosted nasturtiums to the compost bin , so onwards and upwards!
===========================
a last view across the river before going back into the warm by the logburner - - -
================
 with the Temp on the mild side this morning we are following the predictions of the various weather agencies
the weathercam is looking at a very cloudy sky and rain was falling not long ago.  The forecast is for a windy rainy day and the rain radar is showing more is on its way from the West

Old blog revived

I have revived my old blog please follow the link below,

http://mikesweatherbits.blogspot.co.uk/

The slushy snow has arrived & we move a little wood

This was the precipitation radar pic around 05:20 showing us to be in the middle (under the arrow) of a large patch of rain/sleet/snow with the wind driving it down from the North
It looked quite promising at around 04:40 when it was snowing quite well but it quickly turned slushy and is really just raining now
========================================
The http://www.xcweather.co.uk/  pic shows the Northerly wind having taken over and its reportedly -8c on top of Cairngorm inScotland.  Down here at present its almost 2c.  The trend is for this weather to hang around until Monday then get a little milder but probably staying wet and windy
======================================
 having promised Sally's sister another load of wood we decided to deliver some yesterday before the snowy cold weather arrived.  Having negotiated the top gate with Napkin and Bertie scrabbling for ginger biscuits we park up by one pile and Bertie takes an interest in Boris's mudflap
 Sally loads a bag of wood while Bertie nibbles some grass, Napkin is round the side of Boris
 the weather doesn't look too threatening yet
 fully loaded i look down to my logging area and am wondering when i might get back to felling a tree or two
Sally keeps the sheep happy with ginger biscuits after i drive Boris through the gate out of the field
===========================
 the Temp. is slightly higher than expected and the earlier snow is now confined to the higher ground only.  I think that wind speed of 11.1mph must have just been a gust although it does look a little breezy out there just now
the weathercam, looking west, shows an almost clear sky although the view in the opposite direction shows up all the cloud from earlier on.  With the current breeze its going to be a cold walk this morning but it might be worth it for a few snowy pics.

Hold onto your hats the weather should change today!

Sky news carries this story about the icy winds coming in from the north today as the Temp right now locally is well into single figures.  The general drift of the story is similar to the reports posted yesterday although the confidence that snow could fall anywhere across the UK is not so strong and it go's for a more cold and wet experience for some areas rather than snow.
================================
I stumbled across this  when trawling for weather stuff its titled Do we underestimate the power of plants and trees.  its exploring communication between plants and tree's - -- freaky - - -
==============================
Not to be outdone on the weather front the Daily Mail throws up this story  It follows the general idea that its going to get cold in the next few days but links our shopping habits with the weather! - - -
===========================
in this Metro coverage of the coming weather conditions Buxton, a short distance away. gets a mention for some snow Today! - - -
=====================================
The http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ image gives an up to date view on what the weather is now and hovering over the wind arrows for our area its looking like we could have a wild and windy night tonight! - - -
===============================
incredible video of a house on the shoreline in Bangladesh disappearing into a sink hole - - -
==============================
===================
out to lunch yesterday and the view from the car park was of a turbulent sky, it looked like it might pour any minute but apart from a few spots nothing materialised. - - -
===========================

 a cool start this morning and any breeze is still coming from the SW
The weathercam shows a couple of blue bits and these should increase before the wind veers North and cloudier and much colder weather comes along.

Cold weather and snow coming soon! & LM has a bird night then shares his food with Jumping Jack Flash

This impressive map comes from an Express story  With a headline beginning "Britain braces for -10c Arctic Blast, about how bad the weather is going to get by Sunday.  Normally the Express is a little over the top on its stories about anything but this one is backed up by comments from  The Met O, The weather Channel, The Weather Network and Exacta weather   a new one on me?
Anyway we should all expect it to get cold Friday with the Arctic cold air sweeping the UK bringing the possibility of snow to "anywhere in the country in the coming days"
====================================
Just had a look at this Exacta Weather "subscribe page" read the text below - - - i think it needs a little work on it?  As with other weather services a lot of the content isn't free - - -
1. Lifetime Subscription to all our weather services in the link below for just £289.99 - Including all seasonal, month ahead forecasts and much more (normally £200 Per Year)
=================================================
====================================
LM has a busy night bringing in 3 birds at various times and devouring them, i have swept up the grizzly bits but its going to be a chase round with the hoover to catch all the feathers.
I'm not sure if this video will work when i publish the blog but the front pic says it all.  LM (head emerging form flap)was going to exit the catflap and the big furry cat is racing down the steps having heard the catch on the electronic door flick up.  LM then retreats inside and the furry thing races in before the flap returns to the locked side of the mechanism.  It finished off his food and had a bean feast with his biscuits!.  Furry thing will now b known as "Jumping jack flash"
==============================
 normally by now the garden would be cleared for winter but with the mild weather we have left it
  the nasturtiums are really on their last legs and maybe when the cold weather arrives on Friday would be a good time to get rid before the possibility of snow covering them over the weekend
  this rogue tomato, it grew from a previous years fallen fruit, is finally managing to ripen its fruit to a tasty level.  Hopefully it will survive the cold snap
  out walking yesterday the river looked to be higher than it was the other day
 the root crop looks almost at its maximum
 the work on the cycle path on the other side of the railway line doesnt look as if its progressed much but the bloke in the hi vis was walking down the line with a machine running along the line.  On top of the machine was an open laptop which was scanning the line for defects

the hillside looks like its closed down on the colours for the winter
the river level is accentuated here because this little inlet covers the riverside track

a view up to the Nine Ladies hill has very few leaves left on the trees, no doubt the recent wind and rain has been stripping the trees
==================================================
 another mild Temp to start the day - - - soon to change!
the sky was clear and starry much earlier but the cloud is building now. There's a risk of rain until noon then forecasters are indicating we might get some sunshine

Windy in Wales yesterday & El Nino affected Winter seems to be receding

this pic of a 73mph wind speed recording at Porthcawl RNLI station accompany's a BBC story about the effects of Storm Barney in Wales yesterday
============================
the current http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ wind and Bar. image shows the winds are still high on coastal areas and the far North of England.  In other areas it looks to have settled down a bit.
===========================================
The drive down to No 1 Daughters (the elder) yesterday was more a move from car park to car park but the drive back was quite exiting in the wind and driving rain.  Strangely enough although there were may reports of traffic hold ups etc flashing over the radio i managed to cruise along quite well with Cyril only darting around in the wind a bit on the more exposed parts of the journey
============================
I just took a look at the Metcheck super long weather forecast and there's no mention of the "El Nino" affected Winter Weather (?)
==========================================
 another mild Temp and the wind conditions are on the breezy side
the weathercam view is not looking too bad although forecasters are "100%" sure of rain today and some very windy conditions
